First weekend in The Capital

It took me 10 hours of flight over the Atlantic and over 10 additional hours of shopping to move in and seattle in D.C. Equipped in stationeries, beverages and  groceries, I am ready to start my classesJ
I have such mixed first impressions! First of all I am already homesick, which is not promising considering that I am here only for two days. Second of all, everything seems to be so different here….I think I am going through some cultural shock ‘confusion stage’. The water tap presses differently, the door locks open to the right and close to the left, you deal with gallons and lbs instead of liters and kilos, and the local ‘grocery store’ sells 7 types of to-go-coffee, uncountable number of soft drinks and snacks, fresh pizza, tacos, hot-dogs but no yogurts nor fruits! There are also few things which are new to me and I will get use to them very quickly: everyone is very helpful: the lady at the information desk at Dulles airport, the cashier in the bank, the metro staff. They all want to know how they may help you.
The next two days I will spend with bunch of international student on introduction sessions. I hope to get a cell phone plans and bank account set by that time.
